Unit 12.1 Before - Preparing for the Test
Objective: Know the test preparation strategies used to prepare for a college test.
Study Zone: In order to develop the confidence required to stay focused while taking
a test, it is necessary to use both the Information Preparation Checklist
and Test Preparation Checklist to determine if adequate preparation has
been made to pass the test.

It is explained how the Information Preparation Checklist and Test Preparation Checklist are used to determine if one is adequately prepared to pass a college test. Suggestions are given on developing strategies that need improvement.
Teaching Suggestions:
Inform the students when failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Proper preparation is required before attempting to start any task.

Preparation for Unit 12.2: During the Test
Sometimes college students, who know the required information, have received a poor or failing grade by not being aware of the strategies that must be applied while taking a test. For this reason the strategies to use while taking a test must be applied. Unit 12.2 During - Taking the test
Objective: Know what strategies to apply when answering the questions on a test.
Study Zone: In order to stay in the study zone and focus on answering the test question, it is necessary to apply test taking strategies to answer the questions ask.
The following Strategies are given to use when answering the different kinds of objective and recall test questions.
- Know the directions
- Budget your time
- Take your time
- Answer the easy questions first
- Use language clues to determine what is required to answer a test question.
- Use the appropriate test taking strategies to answer test questions.
- Check your answers
Teaching Suggestions:
The strategies required to stay in the study zone to answer the different kinds of objective and recall test question should be emphasized. For the different kinds of questions that can be asked on an essay test it is necessary to use the appropriate outline template to answer the question asked.

- What strategies do you need to be developed?
- How do the strategies used to answer test questions reduce or prevent test anxiety?
- What needs to be obtained, preserved, avoided or eliminated in order to use the

Unit 12.3 After – Debriefing
Objective: Known how to debrief oneself to determine what needs to be maintain or
improved when taking future tests. Study Zone: In order to get into and stay in the study zone when preparing and during future tests it is necessary to focus on knowing one's strengths and weaknesses.
The importance of debriefing oneself after taking a test is necessary so that the study skills that need improved before taking future tests are known and applied. Questions are given to determine which study strategies were helpful and which study strategies need improvement.
Teaching Suggestions:
- Review each of the checklists given in this unit and discuss their value.
- Have the students complete each of the checklists for a prior test.
